Welcome to the 8th edition of Burn After Reading! This is my newsletter on cannabis (and other things). You can check out last week’s issue here.
First off, a sincere thank you to all of you. There’s been a steady increase in subscribers, and I’m very happen with the open rate. If social media lead you here and you haven’t subscribed yet, you can do so here.
I’m sharing some exciting news below, but there’s even more cool stuff in the works that I can’t quite share yet. So stay tuned!
A lot to discuss today, so let’s get into it.
As of press time, this week’s column hasn’t hit the internet yet for some reason, but….
I wanted to highlight something else I wrote this week about one of my favorite annual Worcester events: The Worcester World Cup.
Needless to say, this is a really cool tournament. Hopefully the city and the powers that be will do more to support it. City Hall could do way more to make this event one of Worcester’s biggest attractions of the year. The WooSox could host it at Polar Park, or maybe even an indoor soccer version at the DCU Center?
I will be covering the 5th annual CanEx Jamaica Business Conference & Expo next month in Montego Bay!
I’m also going to be writing some special content for Burn After Reading while I’m there. This is going to be my first content here that I’ll be putting behind the paywall. More details will be shared soon, but grab a paid subscription if you don’t want to miss it!
Here’s more info on the conference if you’re interested in attending. I’ll be sharing additional details in the weeks ahead.
This week, Governor Baker signed the cannabis omnibus bill into law. Here’s what State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz had to say about it.
“This law will rebalance the playing field, where so far wealthy corporations have been able buy their way through the licensing process and too many local, small business owners and Black and brown entrepreneurs have been locked out,” said Cannabis Policy Co-Chair Sonia Chang-Diaz. “The reforms and funding we fought so hard for will be game changers, putting Massachusetts back among the leading states for racial justice in our economic policy on cannabis. I’m so grateful to the many community members and grassroots leaders who came together and held the state’s feet to the fire to make this happen.”
Check out Dan Adam’s coverage at the Globe for all the details.
In a crossover that was clearly pulled directly from my dreams, local cannabis delivery operator KindRun is doing a cross-promotion with Papa Gino’s.
Anyone placing an order will spin a virtual wheel for a chance at winning a free pizza. If you live in Massachusetts and you haven’t had Papa Gino’s before, (1) shame on you and (2) you can’t go wrong with a cheese or pepperoni, but I’m a fan of their BBQ chicken pizza.
You’ve heard about Four Twenty, but what about Fore Twenty? Cannabis Creative Group and Joint Venture & Co. are teaming up to host a B2B golf gathering dubbed the TeeHC Open.
The tournament will be held at Highfields Golf & Country Club in Grafton on September 9th. More info here.
PAX announced this week that they are launching a new line of vaporizers this fall. Presumingly, this device will be a handheld that is the next evolution of the PAX 3.
In preparation for the launch, existing PAX products are currently 20% off.
As an owner of a PAX3, I can say it’s a serviceable device. Nothing to write home about, but it gets the job done. Hopefully the next version is a bit easier to pack and clean.

The Naked Gun!
I’ve meet too many people my age who aren’t familiar with the Naked Gun series. Sure it’s corny, and I bet there’s some jokes that don’t hold up so well in 2022, and yes, the series does prominently feature O.J Simpson…. but still.
Cat(s) of the Week.
Cats of the Blitz!
Twitter user @Manglewood posted a thread of pictures focused on cats found during the London Blitz.
Poor little guys. Check out the thread for more pictures of these resilient felines.
